16 Powerful Christian Living Tips

16 Powerful Christian Living Tips

Apply them over the next six months and close the year a victor!

If you were pummeled and beaten by the devil the last five months, all hope is not lost.

The good news is that by utilizing these 16 powerful tips to successful Christian living, you can still turn the next six months into the victorious experience of victory, joy and favor that God wishes you to have.

It will take a whole lot of guts. The devil doesn’t want to see one victorious Christian on earth. That means, you’ll immediately become his enemy. You need a Joshua mentality to overcome what the devil throws at you.

So as we enter June and look forward to the next six months, you can utilize these 16 powerful Christian tips to any situation to ensure you come out victorious.

16 Powerful Tips For Successful Christian Living.

1. Embrace The Joshua Mindset

Why did Joshua succeed where others did not?

The secret lies in Joshua’s mindset, not in his circumstances.

A whole generation of Israel wished for their own land—and died wishing. For them, 40 years of wandering turned the Promised Land into Fantasy Land.

For Joshua, 40 years of wandering turned the Promised Land into “I-Must-Have-This-Promised-Land-Now’ land.

No wonder God chose him. When God commissioned him, Joshua responded and turned others’ wishes into land, cities, homes and possessions—the inheritance of generations to come.

That’s the reason why some things happen for people and not for others. Success lies in adjusting to our mindset to act on God’s Word, not on our circumstances.

2. Realize Your ‘Unlimitness’ in God.

If we look at ourselves, then it is easy to get beaten down and look negatively on yourself. We come with all sorts of limitations.

We find ourselves constantly saying, “I don’t have enough money” “I’m not articulate.” “I fail at everything.” “I don’t have the skills to launch a new business”

After all, we’re only human, we say. But if you see your identity as God sees it, then you no longer have to feel limited.

God is unlimited. You then draw on His ‘unlimitedness’ for everything in life.

3. God Qualifies You, Not The World

You don’t even need to qualify yourself. God qualifies you!

Your identity, your purpose, your reason for being is tucked inside God.

It’s not about you. It’s about God in you.

If you want to walk in victory over the next six months, stop relying on your impression of self and rely solely on God’s Identity.

Remove yourself from the picture and let God use your life as a tool to do mighty exploits.

Forget about what others think. It doesn’t matter.

They can’t see the glorious destiny that caused God to create you. Were they there when you were born? Exactly.

Twice the Bible makes this wonderful, all-inclusive statement: “With God all things are possible” (see Matt. 19:26, Mark 10:27).

Note the preposition “with.”

To you all things are possible, with God. Joshua didn’t ride into Canaan on the back of an Arabian stallion, he marched in on the back of a God instruction.

God told him: “Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon, I have given you” (Josh. 1:3).

4. God’s Will, Not Your Will

Here’s a difficult pill to swallow.
God is under no obligation to honor your will. At all.

In fact, if you pray according to your will, more often than not, you won’t receive any answers.

God honors His Word. He has exalted His Word above his name.
“….nevertheless not my will but yours be done” Jesus said at the garden of Gethsemane.

Jesus himself realized the need to conform everything to the Sovereign Will of God.

The problem for many of us is that we don’t believe that God has a good will for us; therefore we second-guess Him and pray according to what we want.

The paradox is that if “It’s noble, true, and praiseworthy and of good repute…” (1 Cor…..) then chances are God placed those desires and intentions deep within you in the first place.

The very thing you desire the most comes to pass when you surrender to God’s Will.

His Will is the greatest thing that can happen to you.

And it is the place of ultimate protection, blessing and victory.

God backs up his Will to ensure that you succeed.

Any enemy that comes against you, He scatters in seven directions.

If you pursue your own Will; you will be pummeled and battered black and blue.

5. Change Your Prayer Language

This is related to Point 3 above.

If God has honored His Word above His Name, then instead of using our limited words in prayer, flip the bible open to a verse that speaks directly to your situation and pray God’s Word back to God.

Remind God of His Word.

This is probably the most powerful thing you can do to change your circumstances from failure to victory.

6. God’s Promises Are Yours By Faith.

God’s Word is for you as much in the next six months as it was for the great prophets of old.

Their astonishing feats and victories boiled down to them to an embrace of the same promise you see written in the pages of the Bible in front of you.

Your only assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to “put on” His promises by faith.

What did God promised Joshua?

“From the wilderness … to the going down of the sun, shall be your territory” (Josh. 1:4).

For Joshua and Israel, the measure of the land to be possessed was in direct measure to faith in God’s ability to give it to them.

It was theirs by faith. And it happened when he decided to take it.

The door of history swung open at his touch. Your door of history awaits.

7. Ask God To Make Your Vision Clear

It will save you from pursing many unrelated tasks.

‘Unrelated’ meaning they were never part of God’s plan for your life anyway.

We fail because we do what we were not supposed to do.

Get a vision of what you should do for God, then work to bring it about.

8. Understand The Lesson Of The Closed Door

If you experienced many closed doors in 2015, then that’s an indication that what lay on the other side wasn’t meant for you, or could have eventually caused you much grief.

Spend time praying and fasting until you have a very clear picture of what you are supposed to do.

Once you are very clear about your vision, then heaven rallies to achieve it in record time.

It’s not the warm fuzzy thing you feel when you spend two minutes in prayer and rush out declaring, “God has called me to do XYZ!”

You will need to spend quality time in prayer, asking God to confirm his Vision for your life through The Word, confirmed by The Holy Spirit and the confirmation of witnesses.

NOTE: The witnesses will confirm what the Holy Spirit has already impressed on your heart.

God is with us not because we are good or because we have great faith; He is with us because He has committed Himself irrevocably to us.

If God was with us only when we had success, success would never come.

9. The Only Circumstance You Need To Worry About Is The GOD Circumstance

A phrase you need to eliminate from your vocabulary is “under the circumstance” Remove it and fling it as far away from you as possible.

You’re sending a message to your subconscious that you should be under any circumstance that materializes in your life.

The events around you will align to confirm that statement and keep you in a perennial prison of defeat.

You’re above every circumstance.
Know that God is with you as much as He was with anybody. And don’t wait for the right circumstances.

For many of you pondering whether to set up a business or not in 2017, you’re probably waiting for the right circumstances of enough money, enough influence, enough connections, enough this or that. God is your circumstance. He’s all you need.

God’s Generals before you simply took advantage of this great circumstance, believed it and acted on it.

You can go forth in the name of the Lord with the same courage that God drummed into Joshua: “Be strong and of good courage” (1:6).

That’s your circumstance. The God circumstance.

10. Believe God’s Word And Act On It.

To quote the words of a great brand, “Just do it.”

Once God instructs you regarding your course, just do it. God didn’t give Joshua much forewarning when He said within three days Joshua would cross the Jordan River to possess the land (see Josh. 1:11).

Israel had been on the east side of the Jordan for an entire generation.

God suddenly told Joshua he would cross the Jordan and occupy the Promised Land in three days.

In other words, he was going to accomplish in three days what a generation couldn’t accomplish in 70 years.

Sounds weird, doesn’t it?

A God instruction defies human belief. Once you receive it, act on it despite what your mind tells you.

The Israelites were used to thinking of the other side of the Jordan as ‘Fantasy Land’.

They had become “grasshoppers” in their own sight (see Num. 13:33).

If you think you are a grasshopper, you are; because as a person “thinks in his heart, so is he” (Prov. 23:7).

But in God’s eyes, you’re not a grasshopper—ever. You’re a giant!

Cast off feelings of inferiority. Remember: A person’s greatness lies only in God.

That’s why Joshua succeeded—because the same God who was with Moses was with him. He’s the same God who is with you.

11. Read The Bible Like You’ve Been Paid

Psalms 1 is a glorious prediction of your future. You are blessed.

Whatever you do prospers IF you constantly mediate and ponder on the Word of God.

It’s your ammunition in 2017. Read it. Think on it. Reflect on it.

I’m not talking about the 5 minute bible study, rather the 24 hour mediation of the Word of God.

These wonderful promises are only yours if you keep it before your eyes constantly – in the office, bedroom, car, wherever you go.

Yes, you can’t hold an open bible in boardroom meetings, but you can be mulling on it as you go about your daily schedule.

As you read, ask God to give you understanding and wisdom: Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your law (Psalm 119:18).

Think about what you read: study and analyze it. Write down questions you have and ask The Holy Spirit to help clarify your understanding.

12. Pray The Right Way

Is there a right way to pray?

Yes there is.

The disciples were befuddled when they saw the epic miracles Jesus was doing every single day in their presence, and they couldn’t do the same feats.

In a state of wonder they asked the Great Teacher how to pray. Lots of times, Jesus used to sneak off at midnight to pray.

The next day, He would perform the most amazing miracles. And Jesus instructed them on a particular sequence.

Not many realize the power of this sequence. For example, you blurt out your needs and desires before confessing your sins and forgiving those who have done you harm, nothing happens.

Certain barriers prevent Him from hearing your prayer. Two of them are clearly mentioned in the Lord’s Prayer.

Our sins have hidden us from God so he doesn’t hear when we call out to Him. Get the sequence right and answered prayer will become the norm rather than the exception.

What’s the sequence you ask?

Good question.

Begin with exalting Him as our Father in Heaven. Proclaim Him as Holy. Ask for His Will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Notice we ask for HIS Will to be done, not ours.

When God hears this, all of heaven now begins to gang up to bring about the answers to your following requests.

Give us our daily bread.

Forgive us our debts as we forgive those who have trespassed against us. Notice that God’s forgiveness towards you is conditional.

It only occurs to the same extent we forgive others. It’s mandatory if you expect to receive anything from God.

Jesus then went on to emphasize why this two-way forgiveness act is so critical to successful prayer.

13. Follow The Holy Spirit

I remember hearing this from Pastor Henry Wright and what he said made me break out in cold sweat.

In his sermon titled the ‘7 R’s to Freedom” he mentioned that we’ve been interpreting Romans 8 all wrong.

We love the first part of the verse that reads “Therefore there is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.” Full stop.

There’s no full stop in the Authorized King James version. The full stop is a comma.

What it’s supposed to read is:

“Therefore there is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus COMMA who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit Of Life” (comma emphasis added)

“David, what’s the big deal?” you ask.

It’s a mighty big BIG deal.

Unless you’re walking after the Holy Spirit, everything you do is meaningless. God won’t accept it.

Interpreting this literally, it means if I suddenly decide to go to Spain to be a missionary and spend my days basking by the beach handing out Christian pamphlets and the Holy Spirit hasn’t called me to do that, then my work is a prime candidate for God’s rejection.

That translates to ANYTHING else I do in life.

I could be thinking The Holy Spirit is with me, yet He stopped being by my side 15 years ago.

In the Book of Acts, the disciples fasted before the Holy Spirit said, “Set aside Paul and Silas for the task I’ve called them to do in Asia Minor.”

What if they went to Spain?!!

Now, let’s clarify a couple of things.

We have good intentions. That’s okay. We act on our good intentions. That shows we are good-natured people. We all want to change the world at some point in our lives.

But if that good intention has not been commissioned by the Holy Spirit, you’re in big trouble.

It’s better to get our endorsement from our Commanding Chief before we attempt anything.

And by the way, there’s nothing wrong with Spain.

Your greatest helper is The Holy Spirit. He is with you forever, as a confirmation that you are the sealed treasure of heaven.

His role is also to guide you in prayer and successful Christian living.

He is also a gentle person. He won’t bully you or scold you into following Him.

More often than not, He will be the soft gentle voice impressing certain directions and thoughts in your mind about what to do in any given situation.

Caution: The Holy Spirit only has as much control over you as you allow Him to have.

If you only surrender your emotions to Him and leave him out of your work life or relationships, then He will be restricted to working in that one area only.

This is one of the most misunderstood facts of the workings of The Holy Spirit.

To be led of the Holy Spirit, you must give Him full and unabated control of every aspect of your life. You must do it consciously and deliberately.

Don’t assume that since you accepted Jesus, He will naturally live in you. It depends on your will and resolve to follow after Him.

See Romans 8:1 Read it again. Your liberation is only active for as long as you are walking after The Holy Spirit.

Again, the ‘no condemnation’ liberty is conditional on your resolve to walk after Him.

14. Conquer Your Guilt

Guilt is the number one thing that will keep you away from achieving victory in anything.

If you fall, then quickly come to God, repent of it, accept His forgiveness and move on.

God isn’t your terrible Grade teacher anxiously waiting to punish you when you do wrong. He doesn’t whip out his skipping rope and jump in glee every time you fall.

He’s got better things to do, one of which is to get you up on your feet again so “I can be about My Father’s business” Your guilt doesn’t help Him, it doesn’t help you and it doesn’t get things done.

But also know this: It’s one of the devil’s greatest weapons against you.

Remember that time when you fell into sin, came before God, asked His forgiveness, received it by faith? You experienced immeasurable joy as a confirmation and witness that you had been forgiven, right?

Life seemed so rosy…until three weeks later, when you experience a massive surge of guilt and resentment from nowhere that plunged you into self condemnation.

All because of a haunting memory of what you did that time.

You don’t know where it came from, but it beats you to the ground as you remember the terrible thing you hoped to God you would never remember.

In some cases, it’s that blunt friend of yours who in a middle of a coffee blurts out one of your shameful deeds right in the presence of others.

You instantly felt yourself enveloped by a self hate and misery you have never experienced before, and right there right then, you lose your joy, victory and purpose; and walk away from God thinking He can never love a miserable low down, dirty, lousy wretch like you.

See what the devil did there?

Guilt is the most devastating tactic the devil can use against you. Once you are forgiven, command the devil in the name of Jesus never to bring up any remembrance of that incident ever again.

Ask God to wipe your memory clean -as far as the east is from the west.

Close every doorway the devil will attempt to use to return that incident back into your life.

Know that God is on your side, He is your greatest supporter and fan and millions upon millions in heaven are cheering you on.

Now get up and move on.

15. God Knows The Bigger Picture. That’s Enough.

Worry, anxiety and stress about what you will eat, where you will live and what to do can engulf you like a flood taking away any lasting peace about God’s provision.

It’s not your job to worry about such things. When you realize that you are under God’s authority, then you know it’s God’s job to provide for these things, not yours.

Your job is to keep focused on what He’s told you to do. Stop trying to predict the future, because you can’t anyway.

The best you can do is assume that things will go according to your plan. Why not leave it to The One who creates that future.

Focus on the smaller details, God knows the bigger picture. Be the paint brush He needs to draw it.

Too often we become anxious about what might happen tomorrow.

The Bible promises that God will meet our needs, if only we will seek first His righteousness (see Matthew 6:33-34).

God’s grace will be sufficient to meet the challenges that each new day brings.

16. Your Testimony

Your mouth is the greatest weapon at your disposal.

Your words keep you in total and constant authority. Another term for it is your testimony. What you confess is what you possess. Think carefully about the words you’ve been uttering in the last year.

If you confess fear, confusion or “I don’t know what to do” chances are you won’t know what to do.

Society has conditioned us to glibly say some things that have more far reaching consequences in the spiritual realm. When someone greets you and asks how you are doing, our first impulse is to respond, “I’m okay” or “business is tough”
Your words will either build you or crush you. ‘By the words of a man’s mouth shall a man’s belly be satisfied,’ the Book of Proverbs reminds us.

17. The Blood Of Jesus

Herein lies the ultimate weapon to living a successful life in 2017. “And they overcame him by their word and the blood of the lamb.”

Appropriate the blood of Jesus upon everything concerning your life. Your business, your family, your health, your boy.

Nothing in heaven or earth can withstand the overcoming blood of the Lamb.

Every prayer you pray should include these three prayers:

  1. I speak the blood of Jesus upon my family.
  2. I speak the blood of Jesus upon my business.
  3. I speak the blood of Jesus upon my body.

No devil can touch or harm you when you really realize the immense power the blood of Jesus has.

It’s a protective hedge that protects you from any ambush, plan or sabotage from the devil.
